Looking into the maths, I tried to work out what I could categorise products into, and how many product variations I could produce:
I I had 4 types of jewellery: ring, bracelet, necklace, earrings
4 materials: gold, white gold, platinum, titanium (other options could include wood, copper, silver, surgical steel, plastics, leather - but since it is a luxury brand I will stick to the first four)
10 stone shapes/cuts: round, oval, heart, marquise, emerald, pear/tear, asscher, radiant, princess, cushion
4 colours: white, red (ruby), blue (sapphire), green (emerald)
Then the number of products would be: 640
Bit extreme.
So ok lets focus this down.
A more interesting brand USP would be to categorise the diamond products by their stone shapes (rather than by their material e.g. white gold), since it is a diamond boutique. For this there are 10 shapes that I have chosen.
The brand could specialise in just engagement/wedding/occasion rings, which means the focus could solely be on this idea of commitment and special occasion, and aiming towards men (or women) buying rings for their partners.
The rings would be packaged entirely according to their stone shape, regardless of the style of the band. Thus, strengthening the concept of a diamond boutique.
