Chapter Press

Some great brochures printed by Chapter press, with some good use of stock and print process.

I really love the use of opaque stock inside the book which allows you to see through onto the next page - in this case they have pretend a red image onto what looks like tracing paper to get this see through effect. I also love the embossing on the supplement, when thinking of my D&AD brief this could be used as a subtle change to each publication.

Brief 04 - D&AD -Supplement Development

Using the mock up I made of the fold out poster I added the content. I used a 400 mm x 400 mm document so that it fits on an a2 piece of paper and can be printed double sides. I think a circle will work nicely in the centre of a square rather than a rectangle:

D&AD Development

I wante dot use the title of the supplement 'Designed for Life' in the shape of a circle to make it work nicely with the Circular magazine, so for the poster I combined this with the featured persons name, which I think works quite well: Circle Type I then printed the Harry Pearce version to see who it would work. I really like the outcome for this, but it would be print don a thicker matt paper to give it some durability: D&D Test 02

Brief 04 - D&AD Ideas

Ideas for the supplement:
Experimenting with how the type could work. The name for the supplement that I am go gin to use is 'Designed For Life', as they are people form within the design industry and the supplement are all about who they are and the work they have produced in their life.

D&ADIdeas

I had the idea of using the information about the speakers and creating a fold out poster. So that the name of the speaker can be seen on the cover align with 'Designed for life', and then it fold out twice to reveal information about the person, and then a list of their work of which opens into a fold out poster as a collection of their work. I am go gin to use the colour schemes from the posters that were given out for each person talk at the Typographic Circle, to keep it all tied in together:
Harry Pearce - Red white grey
Rian Hughes: purple black
Simon Esterson - yellow and black
